
NEWFEED Project Hosts Informative Meeting with Hellenic Fruit Juice Industry on Case Study 2
In the frame of the ongoing efforts of the European project NEWFEED, an informative online meeting was held in collaboration with Aspis Hellenic Juice Industries, a company that offers a wide range of fruit juices and purées, natural aromas and oils, fruit preparations, and canned products. This event aimed to present the latest outcomes in sustainable feed alternatives and circular economy strategies within the dairy and feed industry.
Objective of the Meeting
The primary goal of the session was to introduce NEWFEED project, conclude in June 2025, to Greek stakeholders. Since its launch, the project has concentrated on developing and promoting alternative animal feeds by converting food industry by-products into high-value secondary ingredients, all within a circular economy framework.
Presentation of Case Study 2: Valorization of Juice Industry By-Products
Key point of the meeting was the presentation of Case Study 2, which was conducted in Greece. This case study explored the utilization of orange peels—a by-product of the juice production industry—to develop enhanced feed ingredients for ruminants, specifically sheep.
